Keychain Spy Cam Revisited - Setting Date/Time Stamp, Charging, SD Card

After my last review of the key chain spy camera product line I walked away with a really bad taste in my mouth, I think it was cheap memory...

Upon inspection and testing for the new SD Card model I have to say that it's starting to small like roses up in here. A few people still complain about the lack of overall quality but they are definitely heading in the right direction.

With the addition of the sd card slot and removal of the crappy memory this little unit is really starting to shine. I carry one on my key chain now and it's been very handy. I only use it once in awhile and the charge seems to hold for a long time.

The only two problems that I have experienced thus far are that when charging the unit it never shows a complete charge. The other problem is that I bumped my unit and it ejected my 2gb memory card which I never found, be careful about that guys! You could place a small piece of electrical tape over the memory card to keep from loosing it.

Overall I have to give this item a good review, much better than the old ones!

Charging: plug it in to your usb without the sd card in slot, orange light will turn off when charged.

Time/Date Stamp Fix: create a .txt file on your desktop called TAG.txt open the file and paste the code below, adjust time and date to current.

Save the file and copy it to your camera's root folder. Turn camera on, turn camera off, turn camera on and shoot video. Your date and time should work now.

Battery Life: it takes FOREVER to charge this unit and the battery is estimated to last for 60-90 minutes of recording.

External Memory: supports TF/Micro SD cards from 128MB to 8GB
Internal Memory: No
Video AVI Format 720 x 480 High Resolution (30fps)
Photo JPEG Format 1024 x 768 pixels
Easy connection with PC/Laptops, no driver needed
Easy to use "One Touch" record button
Built-in rechargeable high-capacity Lithium polymer
Battery Up Time: Approx. 1 Hour
Support system: Windows98SE/ME/2000XP/Vista/LINUX2.4 above and automatically distinguish operating system.
Dimension: 50 x 32 x 13mm

This unit is a great improvement from the original built in memory units. You should see some great results from this unit, they don't break as easily as the original either!

Frank, thanks for such nice instructions. However I have recently purchased a key chain camera with a memory slot. But when I try to switch it on it just blink orange light once and thats it, nothing happens. When connected for charging the orange light blinks, is it normal or it should not be blinking?

Even if i m pressing the on/off button for a long time it is not getting switched on!!! :(

@ExcelGuru Hello, yes it is normal for the light to blink while charging. Sometimes the cable you get with the camera can be cheaply made, if it doesn't charge properly try another cable and see if that helps.

@ExcelGuru Yeah I would try a different cable and see if it will charge. I have same problem on lots of stuff from China with cheap cables.
